Lab.gruppen Releases CAFÉ 1.1.0 Software with Auto RPM™ Features and Café Coach Support

Lab.gruppen has announced the release of version 1.1.0 of CAFÉ (Configuring Amplifiers For the Environment), a powerful set-up tool for the company’s PLM+ and D Series amplifier platforms. Available for Mac and Windows, CAFÉ enables fast, accurate optimization of per-channel power output to match the connected loads in either installed sound or touring applications.

Version 1.1.0 introduces Auto RPM™, a significant enhancement of CAFÉ’s unique Rational Power Management feature. Working in conjunction with the new Lake Controller 6.3.1 release, Auto RPM allows for automatic optimum power allocation among the four channels in a frame based on the ISVPL (Inter-Sample Voltage Peak Limiter) settings already defined in the Lake module files. Auto RPM™ allows the benefits of Rational Power Management to be realized in all D Series Lake and PLM+ platform products with no separate configuration required.

For advanced users and demanding applications, as well as for D Series Tesira users, manual configuration of RPM is available in Custom RPM™ mode. When CAFÉ’s unique Equipment Specification Predictor (ESP) is integrated into the system design flow, all configuration data for Custom RPM™ will be transferred to the amplifier frames automatically.

The new CAFÉ release includes performance enhancements and extended control functionality for the LoadPilot feature. Analysis of pilot tone impendences is more accurate and the measurable impedance range has been extended upwards. CAFÉ adds an advanced LoadPilot configuration view that extends the existing automatic calibration by implementing full manual configuration for demanding applications. The advanced configuration supports manual enable/disable of individual tones, custom warning thresholds, and custom setting of frequency, amplitude and cable impedance settings.

CAFÉ 1.1.0 also incorporates performance and stability improvements along with bug fixes. It is available for free download at In conjunction with the release of version 1.1.0, Lab.gruppen has introduced “CAFÉ Coach”, a series of 13 video tutorials that offer a comprehensive guide to the features of the program. The tutorials cover both offline configuration (8 videos) and online operation and monitoring capabilities (5 videos). CAFÉ Coach is accessible both via the Lab.gruppen web site ( and the Lab.gruppen channel on YouTube.
