C Series powers all-new Audi facility in Denmark

Published on 4th November, 2009

Audi Terminal The “Audi Terminal” in Fredericia, Denmark is one of Audi’s newest facilities and represents a brand new concept in car dealerships from the German prestige auto manufacturers. Recently opened in September 2009, it is one of the first buildings of its kind in the world. A demanding client brief led to the specification of a significant number of Lab.gruppen’s installation-dedicated C Series amplifiers as well as an NLB 60E NomadLink Bridge & Network Controller that allows monitoring and control of all system amplifiers via the DeviceControl software.

Featuring an advanced building design with modern, cutting edge architectural ideas, the Terminal is designed to build upon and strengthen Audi’s core market profile and brand values. Audi’s heritage and many successes in motor sport were the main inspiration for developing the new building concept. The ‘Audi curve’ derived from the racing track and from the aerodynamic forms of their racing machines is implemented in the architecture of the building, with interior curved walls clearly evident from both inside and outside the structure.

Audi Terminal The Audi Terminal for Semler Audi Detail A/S comprises over 10,200 sq. meters of floor space across two levels with room for displaying 28 cars in the showroom. A 400-space car park ensures plenty of capacity for both stock and visiting customers’ cars and a substantial basement showroom provides space for 42 used cars. Elsewhere, adjacent buildings provide full servicing, body repair and tire-fitting facilities – making this new Audi Terminal a genuine one-stop shop for Audi customers.

Designed as a truly multi-functional space dedicated to enhancing the Audi customer experience, this new Terminal also incorporates a reception area, showrooms, administrative and meeting rooms and a main 360 sq. meter event space. Intended primarily as a showroom for Audi’s top models, the event space can also serve as a function area for presentations and launches for up to 200 people. Indeed, it was the multi-purpose, multi-zone nature of the building that led to the specification of Lab.gruppen’s C Series amplifiers.

Audi Terminal “Lab.gruppen’s C Series amps were ideal for this project because they provide a lot of high quality amplifier channels in space-saving, multi-channel frames,” confirmed TC Electronics’ Lars Christensen. “We only needed nine 2U amps to provide us with a total of 56 channels of varying power outputs, each channel with an individually configurable Voltage Peak Limiter to allow it to be optimized for any loudspeaker load. The Audi Terminal is a true multi-zone building, and all zones can be controlled and addressed individually. Furthermore, the amplifiers had to be integrated with the house voice alarm and life safety systems, and we were able to achieve this very easily via the NLB 60E interface, which also controls and monitors the entire amplifier network. All in all, an elegant and efficient solution.”

The installation was carried out by AVC (Audio Visuelt Centrum A/S), one of Denmark’s leading AV installation companies with more than 40 years industry experience. With around 50 employees and offices in Horsens and Brondby, AVC are well placed to handle this demanding project.
