Lab.gruppen rocks the Republic in Vancouver, BC

Republic Republic is a two-level, London-style club in the heart of Vancouver’s lively Granville Entertainment District. A comfortable lounge and trendy sports bar by day, Republic is transformed after dark into one of the city’s hottest dance clubs, pulsating to the spins of top DJs or live music from reggae-ska and soul-funk bands. To provide smooth, high impact sound throughout the club, LTS Pro Sound and Lighting based in Burnaby, BC, provided Republic with an all-Adamson loudspeaker system driven by six robust Lab.gruppen power amplifiers.

“We first tried the Lab.gruppens when Adamson recommended them, and I immediately understood why,” comment Alan LeTexier, vice president of LTS. “It’s a great sounding amplifier, with a fast slew rate and incredible tonality. The Labs have performed flawlessly since they went in at Republic”

The main dance floor system comprises three Adamson M15 cabinets and a massive T-21 subwoofer, powered by two four-channel Lab.gruppen C Series (C 48:4 for mids and C 28:4 for highs) and a two-channel fP 6400 for the dual sub drivers. The fourth channels of the two C Series amps are switched to 70 V mode for the restroom and hallway ceiling loudspeakers. Three additional C Series amplifiers drive a dozen Adamson CB1 cabinets in the downstairs bar area as well as the three upstairs lounges.

Republic Republic is one of three top-level Vancouver clubs – all operated by the prestigious Donnelly Group – to be outfitted by LTS with Adamson loudspeakers and Lab.gruppen amplifiers. The other systems are now installed at Pop Opera and Modern, with smaller systems in place at Donnelly’s Lamplighter and Library Square pubs.

“We focus on consistency,” notes LeTexier, “and major clients like Donnelly appreciate that. For example, with the Lab.gruppen amps we know they will work reliably and everybody will be pleased by the sound quality.”
The featured bands at Republic are Soulstream (“funk ‘n’ soul”) and Retrofit (reggae and ska classics). Both groups draw on Vancouver’s expanding pool of top-flight musicians, many of whom play the Republic between tours with major headline acts.
