Iconic French new wave rock band, Indochine, has just embarked on their latest European tour which will culminate at the Stade de France in Paris on 26th June 2010. The 80,000 tickets for the final concert of the tour sold out almost as soon as it was announced in November of last year!
The Meteor Tour includes material from Indochine’s latest album, La Republique des Meteors, as well as songs drawn from the group’s successful 28-year career. The company responsible for ensuring that the fans are treated to the best audio quality possible throughout the tour is premier French rental company Lagoona who has supplied a comprehensive Adamson Y18/Y10 FoH system powered exclusively by 26 Lab.gruppen PLM 10000Q Powered Loudspeaker Management systems supplemented by twenty FP 7000 amplifiers from Lab.gruppen’s touring industry standard FP+ Series.
With offices and warehousing in both Paris and Strasbourg, Lagoona has one of the biggest rental inventories in France including a large stock of Lab.gruppen amplifiers. However, although Lagoona already had a number of PLM devices in stock, as MD Gilles Bedon pointed out, this was the first time they had used PLM to power such a big system, which resulted in a purchase of a further eighteen units.
“We are using thirteen PLM 10000Qs per side to drive twelve Adamson Y18 and four Y10 main PA cabinets, plus a further eight Y10 outfills, six Spektrix downfill and four Metrix lip fills per side. The FP 7000s (ten per side) are powering the T21 subs,” confirmed Gilles Bedon. “The advantages of using PLM in a configuration like this are significant,” he continued. “Firstly, they deliver pure sonic performance – PLM sounds as good if not better than any Lab.gruppen amplifier to date. Secondly, the savings in rack space, weight and therefore transport costs are considerable. We are using just 26 devices to power, monitor and control a total of 68 loudspeakers that comprise the main PA system. That is an astonishing demonstration of power for such a lightweight, compact package. They are also very easy to set up thanks to the load “Fingerprint” feature in the LoadLibrary presets. It saves us a lot of time during system prep. Finally, PLM’s Dante network capability means that we are able to run a full digital network from the desk all the way out to the amplifiers with no D/A conversion. As a result, the audio quality and bandwidth we are able to achieve are just incredible, from the deep, rich bottom end to crisp, clear highs.”
All of Lagoona’s Lab.gruppen inventory, including the PLMs, were supplied by Lab.gruppen’s exclusive French distributor, DV2 Audio. Gilles Bedon also confirmed that he will be continuing the update of his amplifier inventory with PLM 10000Q with more purchases planned in the coming months.
