Following the stunning success of the Lake webinar in September, Lab.gruppen and Lake are delighted to co-present the next in this ongoing series of online seminars, this time getting up close and personal with the new PLM 20000Q Powered Loudspeaker Management platform.
Join Miguel Hadelich and the Lab.gruppen & Lake team on Thursday November 18th for an in-depth look under the hood of the mighty PLM 20000Q, where he’ll be on hand to field questions and take you through the impressive feature set of this latest addition to the PLM family as well as delving further into the Lake Controller software. As ever, Miguel will be hosting two webinars on the day, to cater for most time zones, one at 11am GMT and the other at 5pm GMT.
PLM 20000Q represents Lab.gruppen’s most powerful and versatile 4-channel device, encased in a 2U chassis, featuring universal (70-265 V) power supply, Class TD output stage and weighing only 17 Kg (37 lbs). With four 5000 W channels of power available, alongside two Lake Processing modules and the user-friendly Lake Controller interface to bring it all under complete control, Lab.gruppen’s highly versatile PLM 20000Q Powered Loudspeaker Management system is built for some serious driving.
This upcoming webinar is a unique opportunity for both live and installed sound professionals alike to discover some of the key features introduced on the new PLM 20000Q. Whether you’re a systems designer, consultant, high end AV installer or seasoned live sound professional working in the high end touring/concert industry, there’s something relevant for you. Find out about features such as:
Bridge Mode Operation
You want maximum impact from power-hungry subwoofers? No problem. Bridge all four channels to create two discrete channels capable of 10,000 W each, with peak voltage of up to 388 V. Or if you’re driving big 3-way line array cabs, you can bridge two channels for the lows and have two 5000 W channels for mids and highs. Or for monitor and fill applications, simply use four 5000 W channels.
Power Factor Correction (PFC) and Current Draw Modeling (CDM™)
A new universal power supply with power factor correction (PFC) enables better utilization of mains distribution and reduces peak mains current draw. The power platform allows extended bursts without sagging rails; extreme low frequency beats will not affect mid- and high-frequency headroom. Also, with a differentiated load on the four outputs, a higher wattage can be delivered to the more heavily loaded channel while peak voltage remains accessible on all channels.
Breaker Emulation Limiter (BEL™)
To assure uninterrupted service when pushed to extremes, the PLM 20000Q employs the proprietary Breaker Emulation Limiter (BEL™) algorithm (to prevent tripping of mains breakers) along with advanced peak limiting circuits that keep output devices inside operating tolerances and below the thermal protection threshold. With the BEL the PLM 20000Q can be tailored to the available mains distribution without risking a tripped breaker. The BEL can be configured with respect to both available breaker current and characteristics.
Under-Voltage Limiting (UVL™)
For low mains voltage applications the all new Under-Voltage Limiting allows the PLM to stay on even in extreme conditions. When mains voltages sag under heavy load and if long mains cables are used, the UVL reduces the output power before the mains voltage becomes critical for operation. Works all the way down to 65 V! In combination with BEL, PLM allows for high power without tripping breakers regardless of what the mains voltage is. The new power supply design allows bursts to last longer without sagging rails.
New Limiter Profiles
Developed in consultation with leading end-users, new limiter profiles result in improved subjective performance when the desire for increased SPL exceeds allowable limits. Several algorithms leading to peak limiting to ensure that the show goes on, also when things go beyond what is anticipated. A digitally implemented zero-overshoot Inter Sample Voltage Peak Limiting (ISVPL™) keeps internal design parameters within allowed intervals and ensure trouble-free performance LoadSmart™ load verification compares actual load to supplied fingerprints and SpeakerSafe™ loudspeaker performance monitoring continuously monitors the load for total control.
Lake Processing™ with Dante™
The robust power platform works hand-in-glove with dual integrated Lake Processing modules. Lake features such as Raised Cosine Equalization™, Limiter Max™ peak and RMS limiters, and Iso-Float™ ground isolation. AES3 digital and Dante networked inputs with primary and secondary network connections are standard.
Lake Controller™, one for all!
PLM Series products are controllable via the Lake Controller software application, and all are fully compatible with the new LM 26 Lake Processor, Dolby Lake Processors, and other legacy Lake processors. Dante assignment and routing is integrated into the Controller making it all you need for the system’s Digital Audio Networking management. Through Lake Analyzer Bridge, a smooth integration of third party frequency measurement and analysis system is achieved.
