Lab.gruppen and Lake recently held a training and certification event in Singapore in partnership with local distributor Team 108. The event was held during the SLV Expo 2012 and Broadcast Asia 2012 exhibitions.
The introductory Level 1 certification course, presented by VP of international sales Miguel Hadelich, was aimed at freelance engineers and system designers from the touring and theatre industries, and introduced key aspects of Lab.gruppen and Lake audio hardware and software platforms.
‘Lake Processing is well established as the system processing environment of choice in the live sound arena,’ explained Mr Hadelich. ‘These officially certified training courses will help to standardise and maintain a level of competence throughout the industry.’
Practical exercises were carried out allowing delegates to attain hands-on experience in Lake controller software and Lake processor programming for loudspeakers, including correct settings for crossovers and LimiterMax / ISVPL to protect speaker components. The courses also covered real-world applications for Lake processing, the Lake LM Series and the Lab.gruppen PLM series.
‘We had heard of the first certification training with Adlib in the UK,’ said Team 108’s Reeve Long. ‘Bringing the certification programme to Singapore seemed a good idea, particularly during SLV Expo 2012 and BCA 2012, which would provide more motivation and value for potential visitors. We had an overwhelming response, to the extent that we had to waitlist some registrations, who queued every morning to fill the last minute dropouts.’
Delegates who successfully completed the course are now fully certified to program and implement Lake Processing in mid- to large-scale live sound systems, and can progress to more advanced courses.
